Deactivation of PdO-Alumina Catalysts Caused by SO2: The Effect of Support Calcination
Abstract: This study focuses on the deactivation mechanisms for Pd/Al2O3 owing to SO2 poisoning. The impacts of support calcination temperature were elucidated. Results showed that the SO2 was converted firstly over PdO to SO3 under the oxidizing condition involving SO2. Then SO3 will transfer from PdO to the support only under the presence of surface hydroxyl groups, and sulfate was formed. And the relationship between the acidity of the catalysts and the poisoning effect of SO2 were discussed.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].
