Jianbin Jin is a professor and the administrative dean of School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, China. He has studies and worked in Tsinghua University for nearly three decades, except the period between 1998-2001 when he pursued his PhD degree in Hong Kong Baptist University. He has multi-disciplinary educational background, from material science and engineering (B.E.), Chinese language and literature (B.A), management engineering (M.E.), to communication studies (PhD). Dr. Jin's main research interests lie in media uses and effects with quantitative and cross-disciplinary approaches, science communication, etc. Over the years, he has taught courses from communication theories and research methods (undergraduate-level and postgraduate level) to new media studies. He is one of the vice-presidents of China New Media Communication Association. Professor Jin current sits in advisory editorial board of several prestigious academic journals in the field of journalism and communication, including Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Asian Journal of Communication, Asian Journal of Public Opinion Research, etc. He was a visiting scholar at Oxford Internet Institute from May 2006 to Jan. 2007.
