Dianguo XU was born in 1960. He received the B.S. degree in Control Engineering from Harbin Engineering University, Harbin, China, in 1982, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology(HIT), Harbin, China, in 1984 and 1989 respectively. <br><br>In 1984, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology as an assistant professor. He later became a lecturer and associate professor in 1987 and 1990 respectively. He has been a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering of HIT since 1994. He was the Department Head from 1992 to 1998, Dean of School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of HIT from 1998 to 2000, Dean of School of Electrical Engineering and Automation of HIT from 2000 to 2010, Assistant President of HIT from 2010 to 2013. He is now the Vice President of HIT.<br> <br>Dr. Xu has authored and co-authored 4 books and published over 700 technical papers. He holds 64 China patents. He was awarded as Delta Scholar in 2006. He has received one outstanding paper award and four best paper awards from international journal and international conferences.<br><br>Dr. Xu is a member of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council of China, Evaluation expert for Electrical Subjects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Senior member of IEEE and Chair of IEEE Harbin Section, Vice President of China Power Supply Society (CPSS), Vice President of China Electrotechnical Society (CES), Senior member of China Automation Association (CAA), China Energy Society, Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering(CSEE), and China Illuminating Engineering Society (CIES), The Executive Committee member of the Delta Science & Technology Educational Development Program.<br><br>Dr. Xu serves as editorial board member of many journals including IEEE TIE and JESTPE, Control Theory and Applications, Transactions of China Electrotechnical Society, Proceedings of the CSEE etc.
