Yue Gao (known as Frank) is currently a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). He received his Bachelor Degree in Telecommunications in 2002 from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) in China, and received his MSc and PhD degrees in telecommunications and microwave antennas from QMUL in United Kingdom in 2003 and 2007, respectively. Prior to his current role, he worked as Research Assistant and Lecturer in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at QMUL since 2007. He is currently leading the Whitespace Machine Communication (WMC) Lab. He is a member of the Antenna & Electromagnetics Group and the Centre of Intelligent Sensing at QMUL.<br><br>His current research interests include antennas and signal processing in UHF and mm-wave frequency bands for cyber-physical system (CPS), machine-to-machine (M2M) communications and internet of things (IoT) applications. He has authored and co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, 1 granted international patent and 2 licensed works to companies, and 1 book chapter. He received best paper awards at the 11th IEEE Wireless Telecommunications Symposium (WTS) in 2012, and the 15th IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (CIT) in 2015. Dr. Gao is a Senior Member of IEEE and the principal investigator for TV white space testbed with robust spectrum sensing for M2M communications project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and a number of projects funded by companies.
