My research interests include building the scientific observing network in the western Pacific Ocean and realizing observations of multi-scale oceanic processes in the intermediate and deep ocean, and understanding the dynamics of intermediate and deep oceanic motions and their connections with the upper ocean and climate variability. I am currently focused on the Pacific equatorial intermediate currents and the deep western boundary current: variabilities, structure, and driving mechanisms.
