Chia-Yuan Chang, male, a full professor at the Department of Environmental Engineering and Science, Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science. He received his Ph.D. degree from Chiao Tung University, Taiwan in 1995. He was a visiting scholar of University of Technology, Sydney, Australia in 2005 and 2006. The focus of his efforts has been on investigations into membrane and biological processes for wastewater treatment and water reuse. Prof. Chang established the Membrane Application & Bio-Environmental Engineering Laboratory (MABEEL) in 1999. His design and operating protocols of MBR have been applied to full-scale installations for the treatment of industrial wastewaters by local and oversea companies. Prof. Chang has published more than 100 articles in total since 1997, including Journal papers, Conference papers, book chapter and patent. He also received various awards from international conferences including the best paper award, the best poster presentation award and the best oral presentation award. He is currently the editorial board member of Journal of Membrane Water Treatment as well as the guest editor of Bioresource Technology and Desalination & Water Treatment. He was also the co-chairman of an annual international conference titled “Challenges in Environmental Science & Engineering (CESE)” as well as the organizer of CESE-2011. Prof. Chang is currently the advisor and/or co-adviser of master programs in University of the Philippines, Chiang Mai University, Thailand and Kasetsart University, Thailand. In recent year, Dr. Chang focused on his study on the hybrid membrane bioreactor for water recycling and phosphorous recovery from wastewater and the anaerobic MBR for new energy production.
