1. Many oligopeptides containing unnatural amino acids have more stable secondary structures at relatively short sequences compares to the natural ones. We aim to synthesis oligopeptides containing unnatural amino acids and employ them into asymmetric catalysis. The relationship of structure and enantioselectivity of these oligopeptides will provide more information for understanding the structure and the function of enzymes, which are much more complicated than oligopeptides. We try to achieve the enzyme like high reactivity and stereoselectivity using very short unnatural oligopeptides.
2. Organic reactions in water have attracted much attention in the past decade because water is a cheap, safe, and environmentally benign solvent. Actually water can be used as a major catalyst to promote organic reactions rather than the media for the reaction. Our found that water at elevated temperature could act as a mild acid or dual acid/base catalyst to promote several organic transformations.
3. DNA/RNA sequence single point mutation detection is the one of key techniques in the area of diagnose and treatment of human diseases. The majority of detection methods applying nowadays require expensive and unstable enzymatic reagents. We aim to detect single point mutation in DNA/RNA sequence at concentration lower than 1uM by using pure chemical reagents.
