Research progress on chemical constituents, pharmacological effects and application of Pseudostellariae Radix [太子参化学成分、药理作用和应用的研究进展]

Taizishen (Pseudostellariae Radix) is one of traditional Chinese tonic medicinal herbs with medicinal and therapeutic effects. The major components of Pseudostellariae Radix include volatile oils, polysaccharides, cyclopeptides, alkaloids, saponins, and phenolic compounds, etc., and these chemical compounds are related to diverse pharmacological effects such as hpyerglycemic, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, protecting cells, tyrosinase inhibition, and immunomodulatory effects. Chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of Pseudostellariae Radix, along with application of Pseudostellariae Radix in clinic, dietotherapy, health food, cosmetics, veterinary drug preparations and functional feed additives were summarized in this paper, in order to provid e a basis for further development and utilization of Pseudostellariae Radix.
