Com o intuito de investigar a aloca o de energia e a correla o entre esta e o fator de condi o (K) de duas esp谷cies de piranhas, Serrasalmus marginatus e S. maculatus, do reservat車rio do rio Manso, Estado de Mato Grosso (localizado entre os paralelos 14o 52＊ delatitude sul e 55o 48＊ de longitude oeste). As coletas foram realizadas entre setembro de 2002 e mar o de 2004. As amostras de m迆sculos de indiv赤duos de ambos os sexos, pertencentes a diferentes est芍dios de matura o gonadal e ambientes, tiveram a determina o do conte迆do energ谷tico em bomba calorim谷trica e os resultados comparados com o K. Houve diferen as significativas entre os est芍dios de matura o apenas para os machos. As duas esp谷cies utilizam distintamente a energia obtida do alimento. A matura o gonadal exerceu efeito sobre a aloca o energ谷tica e o K, enquanto este n o se correlacionou com a energia armazenada nos m迆sculos. Aiming to investigate the allocation of energy and the correlation between this energy and the condition factor (K) of two piranhas species, Serrasalmus marginatus and S. maculatus, from the reservoir of the Manso river, (located among the parallels 14～52%26apos; south latitude and 55～48%26apos; west longitude). The collections were carried between September, 2002 and March, 2004. The muscle samples of individuals from both genders belonging to different stages of gonadal maturation and environment had their energy content determined by a calorimetric pump and the results compared with K. There were significant differences among the maturation stages only for the males. The two species make distinct use of the energy obtained from the food. The gonadal maturation had an effect on the allocation of energy and K. It did not correlated with the energy stored in the muscles.
