the development of the metadata theory speeds up point with the advancement of internet and the need to describe the resources of digital information in order to facilitate their location and further retrieval. aspects related to the digital resources and their characteristics, the metadata, their definition, types and functions; as well as the most frequent types of metadata in html and their relation with the controlled language, are dealt with.
