摘要

Cationic modification of chitosan and its application in papermaking after forming polyelectrolyte with sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) were studied. The results showed that the paper sheets containing cationic chitosan presented an excellent antibacterial ability and the inhibition rates were range from 89.4% to 100%.In addition, the inhibitory effect of lower molecular weight (MLC) was higher than that of higher molecular weight (MMC).It also showed that the tensile strength and the burst strength increased with the increasing amount of chitosan among polyelectrolyte complexes, while the tear strength firstly increased and then decreased. The enhancement of polyelectrolyte complexes formed by MLC and CMC to paper sheets was better than that of MMC.
