To improve the flow rate and efficiency of a high-load counter-rotating fan at low corrected speeds, the reasons for the flow blockage and internal flow loss of the counter-rotating fan at low corrected speeds were analyzed, and a method is proposed to improve the low corrected speeds characteristics of a high-load counter-rotating fan by using inlet guide vane. At the low corrected speed corresponding to the flight conditions of Ma=3.2 and an altitude of 15 km, the channel blockage of the high pressure rotor leads to a decrease in the flow rate and isentropic efficiency of the counter-rotating fan, the flow rate and the isentropic efficiency at the peak efficiency point decreased by 42.95% and 1.82% respectively. After adopting the method of inlet guide vane, as the opening degree of the inlet guide vane increases, the inlet total pressure of the high pressure rotor is increased, and the flow rate of the counter-rotating fan is effectively improved. At the opening degree of -20°IGV, the flow rate reaches the maximum, and the flow rate at maximum pressure ratio increases by 7.8%. Continue to increase the opening degree, the flow rate remains basically unchanged. With the decrease of the inlet guide vane's opening degree, the inlet attack angle of the low pressure rotor is decreased, and the separation area of the suction surface is suppressed, at the opening degree of +10°IGV, the efficiency reaches the maximum value of 86.60%.
