El modelo espa ol de donaci車n de 車rganos y tejidos goza de gran prestigio en el 芍mbito m谷dico mundial y ha sido objeto de estudio e imitaci車n en distintos pa赤ses. Parte de este 谷xito se debe a que desde el a o 1979 se han promulgado distintas normas legales que han regulado y facilitado la donaci車n. La legislaci車n vigente sobre donaci車n y trasplante de 車rganos y tejidos se basa en los principios de gratuidad y confidencialidad de la donaci車n, se alando la necesidad de facilitar la constituci車n de organizaciones de car芍cter auton車mico y nacional. Recoge as赤 mismo los requisitos para la donaci車n tanto en donante vivo como en donante fallecido estableciendo las normas para la certificaci車n de la muerte por parada cardiorrespitoria y por cese irreversible de las funciones encef芍licas. The Spanish model of organ and tissue donation enjoys great prestige in the world medical sphere and has been the object of study and imitation in different countries. Part of this success is due to the fact that since the year 1979 different legal norms have been enacted that have regulated and facilitated donation. The current legislation on the donation and transplant of organs and tissues is based on the principles of the gratuity and confidentiality of the donation, indicating the need for facilitating the formation of organisations at the level of the autonomous communities and at the national level. It also contains the requisites for donation of both live donors and deceased donors, establishing the norms for certification of death due to cardiorespiratory arrest and due to the irreversible cease of brain functions.
