The title compound, C20H12N2S2, was prepared by the reaction of o-phthalic acid and 2-aminothiophenol under microwave irradation. The phenyl ring, A, and the benzothiazolyl rings, B and C, are planar; the dihedral angles are A/B = 19.9 ( 11), A/C = 87.8 ( 3) and B/C = 84.4 ( 4)degrees. Weak intermolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds link the molecule, forming zigzag chains parallel to the c axis.
