The insulator contamination and its moisture degree affect the safety of outside insulation of transmission lines.In order to determine the extent of insulator contamination moisture,this article has developed the insulator surface contamination moisture testing system based on the phase angle difference,through the detection device detecting the phase angle difference between the voltage of power supply and the voltage of sampling resistor to describe the whole process of the insulator surface contamination moisture.We have done contamination moisture experiences in the rectangular glass plate.We have studied the relation between the phase angle difference and the moisture degree of the insulator surface contamination and the relation between the phase angle difference and different value of salt density under the saturated moisture of the insulator surface contamination.Where the salt-ash density are sodium chloride and diatomaceous earth,and the values of salt-ash density are 0.05/1.0,0.1/1.0,0.2/1.0,0.4/1.0 mg/cm2.The results show that: when the contamination is dry,the phase angle difference is the largest; with the increase of the moisture degree of contamination,the phase angle difference is decreasing; when contamination is saturated moist,the phase angle difference is closing to a minimum; phase angle differences of different contaminations are significantly difference under the saturated moisture condition.The detection system detects the contamination moisture degree by the phase angle difference value,which can provide a reference for the insulator contamination detection.
