it is characterized the scientific production of public health professionals published in the havana journal of medical sciences since its founding in 1987 until 2008. during this period, there were 26 issues published with 307 articles. it was observed a predominance of original articles (52%) followed by case presentations and review articles. the greatest number of articles was published in group. the average of authors per article was 2.4. the specialties medicine, pediatrics, primary health care and dentistry were the most proliferate. %26quot;aleida fern芍ndez chardiet%26quot; general teaching hospital was the most productive institution, followed by the medical sciences faculty of east havana and %26quot;leopoldito martinez%26quot; general teaching hospital, the municipality with more publications was g邦ines.
