Se brindan algunos datos biogr芍ficos del m谷dico de origen sevillano L芍zaro de Flores Navarro (162?-1673), el autor del primer libro de car芍cter cient赤fico redactado en Cuba y el m芍s notable de los galenos procedentes de Espa a que ejercieron su profesi車n en la isla durante el llamado per赤odo hisp芍nico. Se describen las caracter赤sticas formales y se hace un breve an芍lisis del contenido de esta obra primada que, con el t赤tulo de Arte de Navegar, fue escrita en La Habana entre 1663 y 1772 y publicada en un a o despu谷s en la ciudad de Madrid. Se destaca la condici車n de documento raro y valioso de este libro, en virtud de su significaci車n para la historia de la n芍utica universal y de la ciencia y la cultura cubana en particular. Some biographic data are offered about the Sevillan Physician L芍zaro de Flores Navarro (162?-1673), author of the first scientific book written in Cuba, and the most eminent of the Spanish doctors who worked in the island during the so-called Hispanic period. The formal characteristics are described and a brief analysis of the content of this work entitled The Art of Sailing, which was written in Havana between 1663 and 1772, and published in Madrid one year later, is made. It is considered a very rare and valuable document, due to its significance for the history of universal nautics, as well as for the Cuban science and culture.
