摘要

India had expected to gain access to the Asia-Pacific economic circle and beyond through interaction with ASEAN, but its "Act East" policy has borne little fruit for developing trade and economic ties with ASEAN over the years. Despite India’s repeated recognition of ASEAN regional centrality, its Indo-Pacific vision is unable to bridge the two sides’ different regional strategies and expectations. Instead, it has exposed and even expanded the gap, making it difficult for India-ASEAN relations to make any further substantial progress.
