Este art赤culo analiza la obra narrativa de Michelle Cliff, deteni谷ndose principalmente en las transformaciones que es posible reconocer entre el ciclo formado por las novelas que protagoniza Clare Savage (Abeng y No Telephone to Heaven) y la escritura de Free Enterprise. La publicaci車n de esta 迆ltima novela corresponde a la etapa en que la autora se identifica como escritora pol赤tica, con lo que busca construirse un lugar de enunciaci車n menos expuesto a las cr赤ticas de quienes no aceptaron su autocaracterizaci車n como escritora jamaiquina o escritora negra. El art赤culo muestra c車mo Free Enterprise, adem芍s de ser una novela que rescata sujetos e historias subalternas vinculadas a la lucha contra el colonialismo y la esclavitud, constituye tambi谷n un espacio simb車lico para la elaboraci車n de las ansiedades autoriales de Michelle Cliff. This article analyses Michelle Cliff∩s narrative work in light of the changes between the cycle of novels centered on the character of Clare Savage (Abeng and No Telephone to Heaven) and the writing of Free Enterprise. At the time this last novel was published, Cliff identified herself as a political writer, a label that can be understood as part of the author%26apos;s attempt to build a place of enunciation less exposed to the criticism of her self-identification as a Jamaican or black writer. The article shows how Free Enterprise, in addition to being a novel that recovers subaltern subjects and stories related to the fight against slavery and colonialism, also constitutes a symbolic space for the elaboration of Cliff%26apos;s authorial anxieties.
