The Pacific island countries have gained more importance in the US comprehensive strategic competition with China since Joe Biden became US president. The newly released US Pacific Partnership Strategy imposes greater challenge for China, bringing a larger obstacle to the cooperation between China and the Pacific island countries in some areas. However, as the US strategic intent goes against the trend of the times of peace, development and cooperation pursued by countries in the region, it is difficult to truly win the hearts of the Pacific islanders and their lasting support.
