Durante la 迆ltima d谷cada, Cuba ha impulsado un amplio programa de informatizaci車n de toda la sociedad. En este sentido, la esfera de la salud p迆blica ha recibido un apoyo especial y dentro de ella, las universidades ocupan un lugar prominente. Como parte de este esfuerzo, se ha hecho insoslayable la necesidad de implementar un sistema de educaci車n a distancia en las universidades m谷dicas del pa赤s. Con el objetivo de identificar una plataforma capaz de soportar la educaci車n a distancia en la Facultad de Ciencias M谷dicas %26quot;Mariana Grajales Coello%26quot; de Holgu赤n, se revis車 la literatura disponible sobre el tema. Las limitaciones encontradas en las plataformas analizadas a la luz de los requerimientos t谷cnicos y pedag車gicos del sector de la salud en el pa赤s aconsejaron el desarrollo de una plataforma propia. Una vez establecidos sus principios rectores, concebida su estructura y conformados los grupos de trabajo, se procedi車 a la creaci車n de la infoestructura de cada uno de los m車dulos del sistema, a saber: administraci車n, secretar赤a, biblioteca, servicios, profesor, alumno y accesorios. El desarrollo de una plataforma propia para la educaci車n a distancia en el pa赤s posibilitar赤a soportar la actividad docente de pregrado y posgrado en todos los niveles del Sistema Nacional de Salud P迆blica. During the last decade, Cuba has encouraged the implementation of an extensive infomatization program in all fields of society. In this sense, the public health field has received a special support and within it the universities occupy a prominent place. As part of this effort, there is an urgent need for putting into practice a distance education system in medical universities all over the country. Aimed at identifying a platform able to support the distance education, a literature review on this topic was carried out at %26quot;Mariana Grajales%26quot; Faculty of Medical Sciences, in Holgu赤n. The limitations found in the platforms analyzed, according to the technical and pedagogic requirements of the health sector in Cuba, suggested the creation of an own platform. Once the ruling principles were established, its structure was conceived and the working groups were organized, it was created the infostructure of each of the system modules, mainly, management, secretariat, library, services, professors, students and accessories. The development of an own platform for distance education would allow to support the teaching activities for under- and post graduate courses at all levels of the National Public Health System.
