摘要

In Argentina, at the end of the 19th century, liberal intelligentsia considered the state public school as the best means to educate the citizens. The subject put face to face %26quot;liberal§ and %26quot;catholic%26quot; leaders. This conflict was one of the most mentioned in Argentine historiography. The aim of this article is to analyse the political and ideological dimensions of that contest and the limits of the confrontation of values between both educational models: the secular public school and the confessional education. En la Argentina de fines del siglo XIX, la intelligentsia liberal consider車 a la escuela p迆blica como el instrumento m芍s adecuado para formar al ciudadano. En esas circunstancias los ※cat車licos§ y ※liberales§ libraron uno de los debates m芍s citados por la historiograf赤a argentina. En el presente trabajo se vuelve sobre ese debate para los l赤mites de la confrontaci車n de valores entre el modelo de educaci車n confesional y el de escuela p迆blica laica sobre el que se pretend赤a construir la estabilidad de la rep迆blica.
