摘要

in a changing and transitional environment faced by venezuela at different levels and with different scopes, food industry becomes a key factor in transformation and consolidation of the rural agro-food system. based on this statement, a research was conducted in order to analyze agro-industrial entrepreneurship in falcon state (venezuela), emphasizing in the rural enterpriser profile, as well as another strategic factors in achieving economic development in the rural sector, sustained on the importance of the rural agro-food industry in economy of this region, which contribute to the economical development, competitiveness, innovation and the labor market. in the same way, the authors fulfill a descriptive research on the undertaking activity from the point of view of the socio-economical dynamics and the change of the consumerˋs habits. this paper was conducted through a field research carried out between december 2006 and may 2007, oriented to the data collection and direct observation of the items for the involved agents by the application of a questionnaire. the sample was conformed by a total of 23 active rural agro-food industries registered on the data base of the official organisms. main finding shows stagnation in the agro-food industry in falcon state, as well as its non-dynamic behavior. therefore, promotion of undertaking initiatives must not be isolated, but it must answer to articulated strategies, as articulated part in a macro plan, designed in order to achieve a more dynamic food-industry in the region. there is still a wide margin in the agro-food system for undertaking initiatives, nevertheless there is required a business vision, market connection and a dynamic official system which promotes and facilitates the establishment of new ideas.
