For the marine steel pipe piles, the effect of conventional corrosion protection coatings is usually discounted in splash and tidal zones, the durability and service life of the coatings are far from meeting the expectation, and the coatings are also prone to mechanical damage and failure. Based on the engineering practice of the Ningbo Zhoushan Port Main Channel Project, a kind of novel fiber-reinforced epoxy powder composite coating with good fitness to steel pipe piles in splash and tidal zones is proposed, which takes advantage of the epoxy powder coatings. The composite coating is made of multiple organic/inorganic fibers and epoxy powder, featuring excellent wear and corrosion resistance. The integral winding construction technology ensures the compatibility, cohesiveness and compactness of multiple layers of composite coatings. Compared with the conventional reinforced double-layer epoxy powder coatings, the anti-impact strength, wear resistance and scratch resistance of the fiber-reinforced epoxy powder composite coating are improved by 100%, 70% and 60%, respectively. The technology has been applied to the Ningbo Zhoushan Port Main Channel Project for the first time, and the effect is good.
