摘要

this article aims to analyze the importance of agro-food system (sa) in the venezuelan economy. this will evaluate the various statements that are used to describe the magnitude of sa within an economy, as well as traditional methods applied to estimate role: models of four variables (malassis, 1975), four variables extended (brasili, fanfani, montini, 1999) and the proposal of castillo and morales (2006). it is also used the model of expanded agriculture (trejos, arias, segura, vargas, 2004), that recognizes the interdependence between the sa and the rest of the economy, and limited to the traditional perception of it based on primary production.
