Roll control performance of the detached rudder in the high-speed space turning motion of the submarine with different propeller rotating speed is researched based on the RANS method. A fully attached SUBOFF submarine model is taken as the research object. The method of overlapping mesh and sliding mesh are used to deal with the relative motions of the main body and the rudder. Results show satisfying roll control performance of the detached rudder. Rolling angle of the submarine is able to stabilize at the static rolling angle quickly and smoothly. The submarine can perform complete high-speed space turning motion without heeling, which ensures safety of the submarine. Roll control of the detached rudder has an adverse effect on the initial turning performance of the submarine, but has little effect on the diameter of constant turning.
