in this essay, literary fragments from j. l. borges combine to form a %26quot;semiotically oriented description%26quot;, based on c. s. peirce%26apos;s theory of categories. however, there is no intention to develop a %26quot;semiotic theory of literature%26quot; through focus on borgesian texts. rather the texts are used as exemplary semiotic prototypes that illustrate peirce%26apos;s phenomenological categories.
