this text depicts how patrick chamoiseau (born in martinique in 1953) undertakes a rewriting of the affects and archives of the slavery%26apos;s period in the novel un dimanche au cachot (2007), continuing a subject that was already present in preceding books. he endeavors a working through, in freudian terms, reminding a story/history as a means of healing the trauma that has been repressed. chamoiseau mixes up history and fiction in order to create, in a non realistic style, a certain atmosphere during the slavery%26apos;s period, incorporating a historical character - victor schoelcher - but showing him before the important facts and actions he accomplished.
