摘要

presently, a new dynamic within the agri-food system that responds to vertical type productive activities and the generation of differentiated goods oriented towards consumers in specific segment of the market is being imposed. this is called value integration and in a circuit approach is an analytical tool. this study utilizes this tool to characterize the cash crop circuit (green pepper, tomato, and onion) in independence parish, federation municipality, falcon state in order to build a competitive profile in terms of activities carried out and participating agencies. the research unit consisted of 45 producers located in the study area. at the end of the research, the principle traits found to be characteristic of the cash crop circuit were the following: absence of a managerial framework to competitively orient cash crop exploitation, development of pernicious distortions in competition, erratic production behavior, market domination by one agent, intensive use of inputs and the expectation of profits on the short term. likewise, the system of land tenure and access to water resources is significantly given important that 80% of the production is generated under a rental scheme at high prices. it is concluded that a circuit lacks critical group of competitive factors even though it can be considered a development and a sustainable growth scheme in this rural area.
