the italan writer italo calvino has left as his literary legacy the six proposals that would characterize the literature of the %26quot;next millenium%26quot;, but he had no time to write %26quot;consistency%26quot;, the sixth of these proposals. the argentinian writer ricardo piglia at the %26quot;three proposals for the next millenium (and five difficulties)%26quot;, conference held at %26quot;casa de las am谷ricas%26quot;, cuba, in 2000, proposes, therefore, to write the proposals %26quot;dislocation%26quot; and %26quot;distance%26quot; in the place of consistency, aiming at solving the problem of literature%26apos;s future and its role in society, which is seen, however, from the edge, from the border of spanish america%26apos;s central traditions.
