摘要
soil analysis for predicting the level of phosphorus (p) availability is unique for each crop and condition in which it is developed; therefore, it should be based on the relationship between the p extracted by the plant and the soil analysis made with an appropriate technique. the objective of the present study was to compare the chemical analysis methods of olsen and bray p1 to evaluate the availability of usable p and to determine the critical level for the habanero pepper (capsicum chinense jacq.) crop. habanero pepper plants were developed in the greenhouse using samples of 16 soils of the state of yucat芍n with two levels of p (0 and 200 kg ha-1), and an evaluation was made of yield indices (yield increase and relative yield), number of fruits, plant height, stem diameter and dry matter. the methods for determining the critical levels were the graphic procedure and the statistical method. the magnitude of the response to p was a function of the initial availability of this element in the soil. the method that best correlated the availability of p with yield was the olsen method (r=0.801) and the critical level was 11.9 mg kg-1 using the graphic method. it is concluded that in soils with concentrations below the critical level of p, the likelihood of an economic response to the addition of fertilizers is high.
