Some trees of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) had not flowered for 12 years before this study. These trees flowered after two applications of PP333 (400 ppm) plus KH2PO4 (40 ppm) during winter.
A solution of PP333 (100 ppm) plus KH2PO4 (10 ppm) increased the number of pure panicles to four times that of the control, the inverse of the leafy panicle number.
PP333 treatment can therefore replace hand removal of leaflets on panicles and promote the normal development of panicles, even during a warm spring.
