Biden’s transatlantic policy will undoubtedly ease many of the tensions between the US and Europe during the Trump era, but it is difficult to totally reverse the trend of their estrangement. With the decline of US hegemonic influence and the strengthening of European strategic autonomy, the mainstays that have sustained their traditional alliance are undergoing structural adjustment, and this has become a decisive factor driving the transition to a more balanced partnership.
