Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a common type of primary liver cancer. Due to the lack of early diagnosis and the narrow scope of application of surgical resection, chemotherapeutic drugs are still one of the significant treatments for advanced HCC. Different chemotherapeutic drugs, however, have different therapeutic effects, side effects and drug resistance. Therefore, in addition to the development of new drugs, some studies have found that reducing the toxic and side effects of chemotherapeutic drugs and chemotherapy resistance can play a key role in improving the therapeutic effect of HCC. This paper summarizes the research progress in reducing adverse reactions and drug resistance of chemotherapeutic drugs in the treatment of HCC, so as to provide a reference for clinicians to choose a reasonable chemotherapy regimen for the treatment of liver cancer.
