摘要

this article analyzes the evolution of food availability in countries belonging to the andean community nations (bolivia, colombia, ecuador, peru, and venezuela) during the period 1990-2002. to carry out this analysis the author studied changes in food availability for human consumption (ahc), expressed in calories per person and per day and the behavior of national production, imports and exports. variables of total availability (existence changes were excluded) for food groups presented great variation in each country. data comes from food balance sheets from the fao.
