摘要

[Background] The main signal source is an essential part of digital low level radio frequency (LLRF) control system. It is used not only to generate the highly stable reference signals, but also to produce the high precision working clock required by the control system of LLRF. [Purpose] This study aims to develope a high performance frequency synthesizer for Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) so as to ensure high frequency system performance. [Methods] Two different techniques: phase-locked loop (PLL) and direct analog synthesis were employed to obtain the 500 MHz single frequency main signal source. Performance was measured and compared with the existing main signal source. [Results] The experimental results show that the phase noise is ?125 dBc/Hz@1 kHz and ?132 dBc/Hz@1 kHz respectively, both of them meet the performance requirements of the RF system of SSRF. [Conclusion] Direct analog synthesis can be used to produce main signal source for SSRF and achieve better performance.
