摘要

The purpose of this article is to make the setting of crosswalk signal on urban road sections more reasonable and to ensure the safety of crossing pedestrians. Based on the survey data of an un-signalized crosswalk, relationship models between pedestrian waiting time and vehicle volume, traffic conflict time and vehicle speed, traffic delay and crossing pedestrian volume were established respectively. Based on these models, considering shortcomings of current relevant specification in China, 45 s was regarded as the maximum tolerable waiting time for most pedestrians and then threshold value of vehicle volume for setting crosswalk signal was given. 1.3 s was considered as the conflict time threshold corresponding to serious conflict, and then threshold value of vehicle speed for setting crosswalk signal was presented. According to corresponding travel speeds under different level of service, threshold values of pedestrian volume for setting crosswalk signal were put forward.
