摘要
Located in Port Louis, the Aapravasi Ghat world heritage used to be an immigration depot, it intrigues those who are interested in human history not through architectural beauty nor grandiose construction scale, but through its functional utility of receiving mass immigrant indentured labors during the 19 th century. In total, nearly half a million immigrants passed through the gate of the Aapravasi Ghat between 1849 and 1910 before going to work in sugar estates on Mauritius Island and they account for the ancestors of about 70% of today’s Mauritian population.
