摘要
Cidade Velha, Historic Centre of Ribeira Grande is the only World Heritage Site of the Republic of Cabo Verde. It was the first colony established by the Portuguese in tropical Africa. In the later Atlantic slave trade, Ribeira Grande developed into an important port, which acted as a center role in Guinea-Cabo Verde-America network. This cultural site can help us to understand the history of the Cabo Verde, whose nationals, whether voluntarily or captured, were immigrants and played an important role in the subsequent expansion of Europe. The Ribeira Grande also can help us to understand the Atlantic slave trade and its world history, in which Europeans and African slaves became actors, creating jointly the Creole culture in Africa and later in America. Ribera Grande has thus become an important cultural linkage and common heritage shared among Europe, Africa and Latin America.
