The rise of protectionism has had certain impacts on the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative in Europe,who takes an increasingly preventative position and strengthens protection of its market and interests.The long-term prospects of China-EU Belt and Road cooperation would depend on the duration of European protectionist trends.
