摘要

To study the rationality of story drift limits in Chinese codes, the American codes were compared. According to the principle of equal displacement, a method of comparing the story drift limits between Chinese codes and American codes was deduced and the ratio of story drift limits of Chinese-American codes, β, was proposed. A total of 80 typical reinforced concrete structural models, including frame structures, shear wall structures, frame-shear wall structures and frame-core tube structures, were designed, and the weak non-linearity of structure under fortified earthquakes can be verified. Furthermore, the influences of structural system, site classification and fortification intensity on β were analyzed. The results show that β is always larger than 1.0 for all models, indicating that the story drift limits in Chinese codes are more stringent than those in American codes. With β used as the correction factor, story drift limits for all the 4 structural systems were adjusted to 1/500.Additionally, 16 models were designed and structural safety under strong earthquakes was verified by employing component deformation-based performance evaluation method. It is suggested that the story drift limits of RC structures under frequent earthquakes can be taken as 1/500. ? 2020, Editorial Office of China Civil Engineering Journal. All right reserved.
