摘要

An ultrafine porous boron nitride nanofiber was added to WC-8wt%ZrO2 composite, aiming to improve the mechanical properties of composite. The results show that the Young's modulus, fracture toughness and hardness of the obtained composite specimens increase with the addition of the fiber. However, the increase of Young's modulus of the specimens does not follow the rule of mixtures for most ceramics-based composites. The tested value of several specimens after adding 0.05wt% porous boron nitride fiber is up to 692 GPa which is close to the Young's modulus of pure WC of 700 GPa. The phenomenon can be elucidated by small size effect of nanomaterials, based on the superplasticity of ZrO2.
